Designed as a summer home for her 3 boys and their families, the house required 3 master suites facing the water, each with a second bedroom for the grandchildren and a private bath.  Sweeping views of Barnegat Bay and the Mantoloking Bridge were the focal point of the first floor living areas, both inside and out.

Private Residence: Sea Girt, NJ

Nestled on a small lot in Sea Girt, the Client wanted to create a second home in the Arts & Crafts style that didn’t feel small.  The traditional farmhouse form suits the neighborhood, yet reveals an open floor plan and accommodates 5 bedrooms.  The rich, natural materials enhance the aesthetic, and provide the durability required for the seaside location.  Every bedroom has access to the outdoors through an open balcony, and the covered porches and pergola extend the main floor living space outside.

After the house had undergone an addition in the 1980’s, the Owner’s felt that it had taken away from the original “Bay Head Charm” of the home. The house took on a full renovation, making it more functional, and adding back in the original charm, while making it part of the community again.

Superstorm Sandy destroyed the house that once occupied the lot. As the Client’s summer home, they asked for 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, an open-concept main floor with a separate playroom, and an outdoor shower. The home also features both a front and back deck, complete with outdoor fireplace.

Superstorm Sandy destroyed the house previously located on this site. The owner wanted to rebuild but keep her home modest. It contains 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a great room, and a play room on the second floor for her grand kids. A laundry room, and a screened porch facing the lake completes the program. The project had the additional challenge of being on a narrow corner lot and required bulk variances.

A second home for the Owners, this house was designed to take advantage of their proximity to the ocean. Partial ocean views demanded the focus of the house to be to the front with outdoor spaces on all three floors. Tall ceilings, an open floor plan, and a third floor game room were on the wish list, along with 2 master bedrooms and 2 guest bedrooms.

A second home for the Owners, this house was designed to be a retreat from their hectic lives.   Sweeping water views demanded the focus of the house be to the rear.  Tall ceilings, an open floor plan, and a third floor game room were on the wish list, along with 5 bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths.  A covered outdoor dining area, and balconies off the master bedroom and their daughter’s room completed the connection to the water. Says the client, “It is like staying in a hotel when we are down here.  I wonder why we still live anywhere else.”

The Owners of this house purchased it with the intent of remodeling, and making it “green”.  We expanded the footprint to the rear, and recaptured space for a second bay in the garage, adding a game room above.  The Owners love the outdoors and wanted outdoor rooms and large groups of windows  to bring in light and air.  Existing windows were replaced with energy efficient units, and the walls were sprayed with foam insulation to improve the performance of the building.

The client combined two existing lots to create a large enough parcel on which to build their dream home, and later purchased the adjoining lots on either side to allow it the open space it needed for both privacy and scale. With spectacular bay views, the house focuses on the water and outdoor living. The shell stone interior walls provide a unique backdrop for the main living space, and the grand double staircase entry foyer creates a lasting impression.

Superstorm Sandy destroyed the house previously located on this site. The new home contains 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a great room, and an elevator.
